Sabarimala Yatra: Joy of Devotion & Sangha

Sangha is Shakti-Swami Sharanam

Sabarimala pilgrimage is never an individual journey. Every year, millions of devotees trek up Holy Hills of Sabarimala to seek divine grace of Swami Ayyappa. Having completed my 67th pilgrimage recently, I feel deeply humbled. Even after visiting so many times, desire to return only grows stronger with each passing year.

Divine Grace and Master’s Guidance

First and foremost, any successful yatra is possible only through blessings of Swami Ayyappa. Equally crucial is guidance of Spiritual Guru. For me, grace of Pujya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of Art of Living, has been guiding force throughout this spiritual path. His presence in my life gives inner strength to undertake this arduous trek time and again and most importantly to lead my life in a manner that is supposed to be lived.

Power of Sangha in Spiritual Journey

Apart from divine blessings, what truly makes pilgrimage remarkable is power of Sangha, community of fellow pilgrims. Trekking up Sabarimala is not getting any easier with age. This time, trek was physically exhausting. I suffered from terrible headache caused by dehydration and lack of proper sleep for two consecutive nights.

Yet, physical strain faded away because of my co-pilgrims. I am blessed with an enthusiastic, supportive, and cooperative group of devotees who have accepted me as their Guru Swami. Their dedication, selfless service, and continuous encouragement kept energy alive. When co-pilgrims trek together with single-minded devotion, tough climb becomes joyful celebration.

Continuous Pull of Ayyappa

Trekking to Sabarimala is test of physical endurance and mental strength. However, when devotion combines with supportive Sangha, every hardship transforms into spiritual bliss. Through grace of Swami Ayyappa and blessing of Gurudev, journey was completed smoothly. I already look forward to stepping on holy path once again.

Gratitude to Team

I want to express my heartfelt thanks to our incredible team of over 100 pilgrims who joined us across different pilgrimages. From threats of floods enroute to heavy rains and massive crowds, no obstacle could deter their spirit. They showed unwavering belief, blindly trusting every decision I made and jumping in without a second thought. Their dedication and devotion are true backbone of our successful yatras.

Privilege and Responsibility of Guru Swami

Being recognized by team as Guru Swami is a deeply humbling experience. Over time, I have realized that when people look up to you as guide, it brings far more responsibility than privilege. It demands that I act, and visibly act, with complete accountability to be worthy of their trust. When devotees place blind faith in my decisions, my absolute duty is to ensure I never do anything that undermines their belief or credibility. Carrying this trust forward with humility and devotion remains my sacred duty.

Lessons from the Path

Strict penance (vrata), discipline, and understanding demanded by these yatras have profoundly shaped my outlook beyond Sacred Sabarimala. Undertaking a journey rooted in deep austerity teaches invaluable lessons in patience, resilience, and emotional balance. Facing unpredictable challenges on the trek, whether severe fatigue or harsh weather, trains the mind to stay calm under pressure and adapt without hesitation. In professional life and day-to-day interactions, this discipline translates into stronger focus, composed decision-making, and a deeper sense of empathy. Above all, learning to lead a group through shared hardships with humility has taught me that true leadership, both in work and in life, is about serving others with patience and keeping faith intact no matter the terrain.

Opposites Attract, Tirupati Calls, and Aparna Rules!

Through every season, quiet morning, and shared milestone, one thing remains constant. You are heart of our home and light in my life. Happy Star Birthday to our Star Aparna

Over years, expressing how much you mean to me has been recurring tradition, yet no single post or set of words ever feels quite enough. Looking back at every message, wish, and tribute written for you, clear pattern emerges. It is story of gratitude, deep partnership, and total devotion, with fair share of me agreeing with you just to save time. 😂😛Just to make it different, I chose to write this for star birthday and not the Gregorian calendar birthday

Life moves fast, Aparna, but you bring grounding warmth to everything you touch. Whether it is your laughter (though it is too rare, very rare) that instantly brightens room, your quiet resilience during tough times, or selfless care you extend to everyone around you, you make life look effortless and full of grace. How you manage to keep entire house running smoothly while keeping me in check remains one of life’s great mysteries.

We could not be more different on surface. Our quirks, reactions, and way we view world often stand in total contrast. Where one brings calm logic, other brings spontaneous spark, and where one wants to plan everything down to minute, other is just happy to tag along. Yet beneath those contrasting personalities lies shared foundation that ties us together so effortlessly. We find common ground in sacred spaces and simple joys. Above all, our deep love for traveling together to temples, soaking in divine atmosphere, and cherishing every single moment spent in those holy spaces, like our recent memorable trip to Tirupati for your birthday, is bond that grounds us completely. Though I must admit, walking at your speed through temple queues is true test of my devotion.

Our home and lives are anchored by your boundless capacity to nurture. As mother to Vishnu and Divya, you have given them strength, wisdom, and unwavering foundation. But your maternal warmth does not stop with our own. Over years, you have embraced whole legion of manasik children, serving as their strict yet deeply loving guiding light. You hold high standards, push them to excel, and correct them when needed, often with just single sharp glance that strikes loving fear into all of us. Yet you always wrap them in genuine affection and care. To watch you lead, guide, and love so many lives is true sight to behold.

Yet another of our Pilgrimage Tour with All of us

Marriage is not just about sharing home, it is about sharing journey. Standing side by side with you, Aparna, has been greatest privilege. You are my confidante, my biggest supporter, my chief critic (this is something that is perfected by you, happens about everything and every time), and my best friend. With you, every success feels twice as sweet, and every challenge feels manageable, mostly because you usually have solution ready before I even finish worrying (I say this since I love humour).

Today is not just another birthday. It is moment to pause and celebrate incredible woman you are, your kindness, your strength, and endless joy you bring into my world.

May this year bring you as much comfort, peace, and happiness as you tirelessly give to everyone around you. May your dreams continue to take flight, and may we keep creating beautiful memories together, along with endless debates over who is actually in charge.

Bringing Light everywhere

Our family story has grown richer with time, but it feels truly complete today in joyful, infectious presence of our grandson, Anay. With him in our arms, children besides and you with us, life is whole.

Happy Birthday Ajji – Govinda Govinda

Here is to endless temple trips, shared laughter, and beautiful life we continue to build together.

WE DO KNOW, Sanjay Uvacha!

Direct Rebuttal

Defending 2021 trial court acquittal of Tarun Tejpal requires high stakes intellectual gymnastics. Commentary like Sanjay Hegde’s, attempting to sanitize Sessions Court judgment by painting it as rigorous application of reasonable doubt misses fundamental point. Trial court ruling was not masterpiece of judicial caution. It was textbook example of patriarchal bias disguised as legal reasoning. Defending it legitimizes dangerous legal fallacy that woman trauma must mirror outdated cinema script to receive justice.

(Not sharing the link to original article for a reason) But here it is, from the X post that so called Vakeel has shared.

From Sanjay Hegde’s X account

Bombay High Court conviction of Tejpal in August 2026 obliterated deeply flawed regressive premises defending lower court relied upon.

Deconstructing Trial Court Judgment Flawed Legal Foundation

2021 Goa Sessions Court decision received heavy criticism from legal scholars because it rested on debunked stereotypes regarding sexual violence. Lower court misapplied basic principles of evidence and criminal jurisprudence in several critical ways.

Demanding Ideal Victim Narrative

Trial court penalized complainant for not fitting arbitrary image of broken victim. It fixated on fact that she continued duties at event spoke with colleagues and appeared composed or smiling in photographs after incident. Treating composure as proof that no assault occurred ignored complex reality of survival instincts professional obligation and coping mechanisms.

Misinterpreting Physical Resistance and Power Dynamics

Trial judge drew adverse inferences because survivor lacked severe physical injuries implying she should have fought back harder. This completely disregarded sudden freeze response common in traumatic events as well as overwhelming power imbalance between powerful editor in chief and junior employee. In fact he did threaten her reminding her that HE IS THE BOSS!

Permitting Unlawful Character Assassination

Most glaring procedural failure was allowing defense to subject survivor to invasive questioning regarding personal life past relationships and social habits. Indian evidence law under Sections 53A and 146 of Evidence Act strictly prohibits using victim past sexual character or moral views to judge consent or credibility. Trial court allowed statutory guards to be bypassed effectively putting survivor on trial.

Dismissing Direct Written Admissions

Trial court brushed aside Tejpal initial written apology emails labeling them as coerced or describing minor misunderstanding. It created hyper technical barrier to dismiss explicit admissions while holding victim memory to impossibly flawless standard.

How Bombay High Court Corrected Course

Reversing acquittal and sentencing Tejpal to 10 years rigorous imprisonment Bombay High Court described trial court reasoning as perverse and directly contrary to evidence on record.

High Court affirmed that perfect victim is cultural myth. Survivor credibility cannot be judged by whether she breaks down immediately or retreats from public view. High Court held that victim testimony was sterling inspiring total confidence and recognized Tejpal written apologies as clear proof of non consensual acts.

Role of Appeals Designed Check Not Aberration
(Some lesson from a Student to the so called Vakeel)

When High Court overturns trial court acquittal critics frame it as systemic instability. In truth appellate process is deliberately engineered safeguard essential to fair constitutional order.

Accounting for Human and Judicial Error

Trial court judges operate under strict time constraints and are subject to personal societal or cognitive biases. Legal system explicitly anticipates that lower court may misinterpret statutes fall prey to victim blaming assumptions or misread key evidence.

Multi Tiered Review Ensures Systemic Health

Appeal is not failure of legal system. It is proof that built in self correction tools work. Division Benches at High Court level evaluate trial records against constitutional protections and binding Supreme Court precedents filtering out errors made at ground level.

Setting Binding Standards for Future

Higher courts do more than rectify individual case. They establish binding jurisprudence. Striking down perfect victim trope in this appeal Bombay High Court sent clear message to all trial courts across India that victim blaming stereotypes and character assassination have no place in court of law.

Final Takeaway

Tejpal case illustrates why appellate review exists. Without higher forum to reexamine flawed logic trial court judgment built on regressive assumptions would have stood as final law. Appellate structure guarantees that trial courts remain accountable to Constitution ensuring justice is rooted in hard evidence rather than societal prejudice.

This video provides clear concise breakdown of High Court reversal highlighting how court rejected trial court normative behavior argument and held Tejpal accountable based on record. (Though I don’t like to share anything from The Print, credit where due – this video has broken down the judgement well

Legal Apologia

He writes

Framing case as mere conflict of two stories represents complete legal dud. Calling on public to say “we do not know deliberately ignores most damning evidence on record written admissions made by accused immediately following incident. Claiming ignorance when written confessions exist is not judicial humility. It is selective blindness designed to erase concrete evidence. These kind of agenda driven opinions under the guise of Legal commentary, performs grave disservice to justice.

“We know”, the whole world knows except those who chose to say “we do not know”, and man, “We know” why “you don’t know”.

Articles pushing this commentary rely on faulty legal premises misapply statutory protections on consent and ignore binding appellate precedents. By substituting sound constitutional analysis with sophisticated victim blaming commentary fails both on legal merit and moral integrity. When prominent legal voices trivialize survivor trauma or validate victim blaming stereotypes they reinforce systemic barriers victims face in courtrooms. High Court verdict stands as decisive rejection of such regressive commentary proving that legal analysis must never become shield for victim blaming logic.
