Yeah! It doesn’t cost anything at all. In fact it may mean the world (and even life for some). I pen this to share that wonderful feeling when this person earlier today walks up to me and says (to a surprised and shocked me), I just saved her life.
In her words,
“Sir, I went home last evening saying OK, when you told me See you tomorrow. I was going through worst moments of my life – atleast I thought so. But your free smile and See you tomorrow forced me to tide over that weak moment back home, where I almost lost it. I them remembered, I had to come back and see you tomorrow. You just saved my life and my family’s joy and peace”
If she is reading this (which definitely she will, I only wish she shares the power of a smile and a 3 word magical phrase, “See you Tomorrow”)
In these days, busy that each one of us are, when we claim – there isn’t even time to breathe – a smile for no reason, at no particular person is simply a gift that you owe to the world – Not so much for the recipient’s sake, but more for our own sake. When we smile, we are happy. There is no thing called a “Sad” Smile other than those in a story teller’s imagination.
On the first day of 2017, when we spent over a hour in one of the orphanage with nearly 50 residents, folks thought we were doing a favor to them (even I thought so). The way, those tiny tots to high school going children cooked, served, sang and danced with gay abandon was a lesson for each one of us from the team. They lived their lives that moment to the fullest. Never brooding over their misfortune or what could have been.
Look at the pictures above – who is happier by the Gift of Smile that we presented them with. More than the residents it was the volunteers and all of us.
More reasons for us to smile.: If you carefully observe, no one notices your old clothes or a torn pullover when you wear a genuine smile. As some wise man said, “If you smile when no one is around, you mean it” – Yes smile for yourself and for others. You can only gift what you have in abundance.
Problem with most of us is that in our pursuit to live our busy life, chasing happiness meeting one deadline to another – we forget to love, admire and care for the person who we see everyday in the mirror. Smile, you owe it to yourselves
As Pujya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji of The Art of Living says, “Instead of working for Happiness, Work Happily”
Signing off with this quote from George Eliot
Wear a smile and have friends; wear a scowl and have wrinkles.
Have a super 2017 filled with Smiles
Very well written, Suresh.

The feeling of oneness is abundantly expressed . Life is Golden oppurtunity , not a burden. Iam reminded of those unfortunate People in the war torn World who are gazing at us for this Elixir SMILE>
Great sir….
