Human plans often fade when spiritual journeys unfold. Millions travel to holy places thinking trip is result of personal decision. Reality remains far deeper. Mind designs travel schedules, but actual meeting with Bhagavan happen only when cosmic timing aligns. Journey to Tirumala teaches every seeker that human ego holds no power over divine entry. Bhagavan Sri Venkateshwara calling determines entry into sacred hills.
Unexpected Ordeal in Tirumala Queue
September 2025 brought memorable attempt for family pilgrimage. Six family members consisting of parents, grand-parents, and with adorable three-year-old grandson Anay boarded a bus for one-day trip to Tirupati for tonsuring ceremony. Hopping onto conducted tour based on old system proved costly as tour operator failed to inform that guaranteed Darshan slots were no longer provided. Lack of updating on latest rules from family side added to situation. After freshening up and quick breakfast at unearthly hour in designated hotel, team split for tonsuring ceremony. Members taking tonsuring paid extra for separate transport, finished ceremony, and rejoined main group. Operator dropped family at Sarva Darshan compartment number 67 by 5:30 am with plain statement to pick up after Darshan. Day-1 of holy Purattasi month brought massive rush of pilgrims. Confusing display board kept everyone guessing whether numbers meant clock time or remaining hours, leading family to wrongly expect completion by 11:30am. Queue made zero progress while family hoped for batch-wise release into compartments. Bright side emerged through friendship with two related families from Rajasthan, Ashish and Askhu and family. We got so close we even ended up forming a WhatsApp group humorously named Tirupati Waiters. Volunteers served free tasty breakfast from TTD while we waited in the queue. Lunchtime arrived with crowd still stuck far from actual queue complex where luggage deposit and security check happen. Target distance felt as far as distance between Bengaluru and Tirupati. Free TTD dinner came while display showed twelve and half hours left, finally clarifying that board indicated remaining hours. Luggage deposit happened through new Rajasthani friends Ashish, Akshu and their families, leaving receipt under their name else we would have no choice but to wait until they returned to retrieve our luggages. All along, little Anay pulled through bravely, chanting Govinda name enthusiastically and asking to be carried when sleepy. Oblivious to tension of elders, he managed well as long as food was around. Queue complex compartments were reached around 11:00 pm at night, when no further food or refreshments would be available. Hard decision to abandon queue was taken for wellbeing of child after agonizing wait of over 18 hours.
Surrender to Divine Will
Heavy heart prompted decision to step out of queue complex near midnight due to small child needing rest. Continuous rain and night traffic restrictions added to physical strain. Compassionate accommodation at Sri Pedda Jeeyar Mutt provided shelter until hill roads opened at three in morning. Return to hotel room brought acceptance that Bhagavan Sri Venkateshwara grace had not called family for Darshan on that day. In my own experience in 1994, just like we did for her son, we had to stand in a queue carrying my 1 year old daughter (we did not know the procedures so well at that time) the whole night but with His grace had a lovely darshan, I casually said, “never again” and it took very long time for me to make the pilgrimage to Tirumala again (about 4 years). Relatives who vowed never to return faced repeated obstruction in booking for over year, proving power of Tathastu from unseen Devatas. When it comes to Divine matter, NEVER say never.
Sacred Calling Unfolds
Divine doors opened wide once cosmic timing aligned properly. Contrasting sharp denial of previous year, family secured high tension regular bookings smoothly and received grand divine blessings across multiple visits. Special Entry Darshan succeeded in December 2025 along with grandson Anay. March 2026 brought auspicious opportunity to participate in Kalyanotsavam at Sri Padmavati Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanur, followed by sacred Divya Anugraha Homam in Tirumala and grand Darshan thereafter. (Click on the link for more information-Opens New Tab) July 2026 marked another blessed trip with grandson Anay to participate in Kalyanotsavam at Tirumala followed by divine Darshan. November 2026 completed spiritual circle with Kalyanotsavam at Sri Kalyana Venkateshwara Temple in Srinivasa Mangapuram and Special Entry Darshan thereafter. Experiencing such effortless arrangements after painful eighteen-hour ordeal stands as living proof that pilgrimage materialises only through His divine calling.
Acceptance and Spiritual Wisdom
Disappointment or grudge towards others or even guilt-tripping others, even if it doesn’t impact others, has no place in spiritual journey. In my experience these thoughts backfire creating hurdles for one even more. True devotion lies in accepting divine will without bitterness when plans fail. Accepting delay cultivates patience, humility, and positive mindset, preparing inner self for future efforts to bear fruit. Devotees reaching final sanctuary doors have also turned back without Darshan due to sudden medical emergencies or non-compliant attire, proving human proximity guarantees nothing. Ultimate truth extends far beyond Tirumala. Long-standing desire to visit Ardhagiri Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple (Click on the link for more information-Opens New Tab) materialised only during recent pilgrimage despite years of planning. Even step into local neighborhood temple remains impossible unless Bhagavan grants permission. Surrender to divine timing unlocks true peace, transforming every outcome into sacred blessing.
